Carry On My Wayward Son
I chose Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas as my theme song for Sam because it represents him well. The song focuses on searching and something good to come at the end of the search. This represents Sam because he is constantly searching for food, shelter, safety for Rosie and Angela and peace. Also, it follows his own journey to Washington D.C. when he seeks his WICKED. The lyrics, ‘Surely heaven waits for you,’ imply that something good will come out of all of this. Also, the line that I think connects Sam the most is ‘There’ll be peace when you are done,’ that is what Sam is really looking for. In the end, the only way to achieve it, is to ultimately sacrifice himself for his family to WICKED. He never gets to it because, when he becomes a Crank, he realizes the only way to be at peace is to die.
